Theresa Bostic (she/her/hers)

The 2021-22 school year Chair is Theresa Bostic, a third year double majoring in History and Sociology with a minor in Black Studies from Dublin, CA. The Chair is responsible for leading MSG, facilitating the development and achievement of MSG’s missions and goals, working closely with the MSG advisor to achieve group goals, and representing MSG to Merrill College and other student groups. This officer has to remain impartial in all MSG decisions.

Mavalyn

The 2021-22 school year Treasurer is Mavalyn, a 2nd year Biology B.S. Major hailing from San Jose, CA. The treasurer maintains an updated balance of all MSG accounts and accepts all funding request forms. The treasurer serves as a liaison between groups requesting money and MSG and works closely with the College Financial Advisor in distributing funding awards to student organizations. The MSG Treasurer will arrive prior to fall move-in and participate in move-in day as well as represent MSG at welcome week activities unless receiving prior approval of absence from the MSG advisor. This officer has one vote in all decisions legislated by MSG.

Camila (she/her/hers)

The 2021-22 school year secretary is Camila, a third year Cognitive Science major, originally from Berkeley, CA. The secretary is responsible for recording and preserving meeting minutes and taking attendance, as well as creating the weekly schedule and presentation. The Secretary holds at least one weekly office hour in coordination with the MSG advisor.

This officer has one vote in all decisions legislated by MSG.

Shreya (she/her/hers)

The MSG PR Coordinator for the 21-22 school year is Shreya, a third year majoring in business management economics & minoring in technology and information management. She is originally from the suburbs of Sacramento. The PR coordinator coordinates the creation and distribution of publicity for MSG events (e.g., posters, flyers, email postings) and solicits the input of Merrill Students in MSG activities, discussions, and decisions. This officer has one vote in all decisions legislated by MSG.

Attends both MSG and Academic Senate meetings to keep MSG members and Merrill College informed of campus-­‐wide issues. The Academic Senate is a cooperative board with faculty, professors, and students on committee that propose and vote on legislation concerning academic issues. This representative speaks on behalf of Merrill College students. This officer has one vote in all decisions legislated by MSG.

Represents MSG in responding to funding requests presented to the Core Council and serves as a liaison between the two groups. The Core Council is a campus-­‐wide funding body comprised of one student representative from each college. This officer has one vote in all decisions legislated by MSG.

Attend both MSG and SUA meetings to keep MSG members and Merrill College informed of campus-­‐wide issues. The SUA provides a vehicle for students’ voices at UCSC and is comprised of representatives from each of the colleges, the ethnic and cultural organizations, and the officers of SUA. The representatives vote and speak for Merrill students at SUA meetings. The SUA Representatives are to hold at least one weekly office hour each in coordination with the MSG advisor. The Merrill SUA Rep who is elected in the spring election will arrive prior to fall move in and participate in move in day as well as represent MSG at welcome week activities unless receiving prior approval of absence from the MSG advisor. The SCOC is the student-­‐run advisory board, which reviews the activities of student-­‐involved committees and appoints new members. This representative votes and speaks for Merrill Students at SCOC meetings. This officer has one vote in all decisions legislated by MSG.
