Herstory:

Faux Shaux was conceived by the UCSC women's center in 2008 and first came to stage in 2009 as a way to recognize, honorand most importantly challenge gender representation in its many beautiful forms and varieties.  Over the first two years Faux Shaux quickly picked up momentum and in 2011 Merrill Programs and Activities joined forces with the UCSC Women's Center to provide additional resources and a new performance space.  It was quickly apparent that the shared vision of this event was much more than a Drag Show but rather an opportunity for expression, education, and enthusiasm around gender performance.

Because let's be honest.....

Gender Expectations really are a drag
