Merrill Student Government

What Is Merrill Student Government?

Merrill Student Government (MSG) is the elected representation voted by Merrill College students and serves as a voice for students representing their interests and concerns to Merrill College administration and other campus constituencies. It allocates funds supporting social, cultural, and educational activities benefiting Merrill College and its students. MSG also contributes to the Merrill College community by assisting in college-wide events and raising student awareness regarding important issues. MSG and its actions are grounded in Merrill College’s commitment to promoting cultural identities and global consciousness.

MSG Meetings

Merrill Student Government meets most weeks on Thursdays at 8:00pm in the Charles E. Merrill Lounge, located behind the Merrill Academic Building. For more information, please contact Merrill Student Government Core

How Can I Get Involved?

Any registered Merrill Student can gain voting status from MSG by attending three consecutive meetings. These students will be referred to as Members At Large. Merrill Students are encouraged to attend MSG meetings at any time during the quarter and can join the various committees that MSG offers.

What Are Some Events That MSG Funded?

MSG has planned and/or helped fund game nights, dances, music shows, informational meetings and workshops, open mic nights, poetry slams, student publications, guest speakers, cultural nights, and much more! MSG also coordinates Signature Events that are held throughout the year. MSG prides itself in being involved with the entire Merrill Community including Residential Life, Administration, and the Merrill Programs & Leadership Office.

What Are Some Of The Benefits Of Joining MSG?

By attending regular MSG meetings, you will hear about the very latest events being planned and the current issues being discussed on campus. You will have the opportunity to voice your opinions by voting, sharing your unique views, representing Merrill College, networking with our various leaders and administration and creating ideas with an extremely attentive audience and have access to the yearly budget presented by the Advisor.
